Check the item "I". Got this from Indonesian Consulate Perjanjian Pekerjaan (Work Contract), page 3. Wow! Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country asks Malaysian employers to give two (2) days off for their countrymen (irrespective of religion).

I just don't know what to say.Probably they deserve these holidays IF they really their a** off during working days.
Sorry KY,being a SAHM made me see 'real' behaviour of maids here.They don't really work effectively!e.g : Took them half an hr walk for a garbage & for me I take less than 5 minutes!
They leave the majikans' kids unattended while they chitchatting wz each other.They shout & smack the children hard! etc..
correction : "..to take garbage out.."
Maria/Faizal: I guess you had the misfortune of experiencing the bad maid situation, :) as with many others, like my brother's case for instance, worked for less than 2 months then ran away. ;)
However, a small percentage of them really work well. For example, you can read about Dusun Aroma's [post].
And I also personally know of one Indonesian maid that has been working for 8 years already and already like a family member, very good with children. :)
So there you have it. The good and the bad maids. Did I mention there are also the good and the bad employers? :P
The point of the post is, they have 2 Christmas days off (probably due to they don't have many holidays like ours). :D
